Artist Bio
San Diego is known for cultivating some of the best Reggae to come out of the US and is a desired destination for Reggae lovers everywhere. The Originators have developed a unique style, bring a wide range of Reggae influences to their sound and their set is always dynamic. Their style is traditional Reggae mixed with hints of rocksteady, modern Reggae and a vocal style that is heavily influenced by classic Reggae and the Motown Sound of American R&B. Their greatest influence is legendary Jamaican backing band Roots Radics and the classic roots/dancehall style they created.
The Originators continue to write music, develop their sound and play shows. They have a unique presence that is unlike any other group in Southern California and holds true to the sound of classic Reggae. They are currently backing Studio 1 artist Judah Eskenfer Tafari for performances in San Diego.
The Originators have supported Maxi Priest, Mykal Rose, Alborosie, Cocoa Tea, The Wailing Souls, Israel Vibration & Roots Radics, Akae Beka (Midnite), Freddie McGregor, The Mighty Diamonds, The Wailers and more. They have also performed at the Los Angeles festival Reggae On The Mountain 2018 & 2019, Adams Avenue Street Fair 2019 in San Diego, Unite the Tribe 2019 festival and Jam in the Van.
